What is “Oxidation”?

There are many reasons why aging occurs. Recently, one of the key topics drawing interest is "oxidation".

When exposed to these triggers, our bodies generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). Excessive ROS can damage cells, leading to wrinkles, spots, fatigue, and other signs of aging.

Interestingly, the condition of your capillaries can serve as an indicator of the body’s oxidative stress levels. One cause of so-called “ghost vessels”—vessels that are there but no longer transport blood—is the deterioration of blood vessels due to oxidation.

Although our bodies are naturally equipped with antioxidant power to protect against oxidation, this ability tends to decline with age. That’s why it’s important to incorporate nutrients and substances that support antioxidant activity through our daily diet.

What should you eat to protect your body from oxidation?

Vitamins A, C, and E—often referred to as “ACE”—along with polyphenols and minerals, play a key role in fighting oxidation. They help neutralize harmful reactive oxygen species (ROS) and support enzyme activity, keeping oxidative stress in check.
