Connecting markets through R&D innovation
When Ari joined the GAP R&D team in 2025 as its first Indonesian national, he quickly recognised the regional nature of his role. Supporting factories in both Thailand and Indonesia means navigating different sourcing conditions, regulatory landscapes, and production environments. For Ari, that complexity is motivating. He is driven by the challenge of ensuring that innovation remains consistent, no matter where it is produced.
He sees R&D as a bridge, aligning perspectives and technical standards so that products deliver the same trusted quality across markets.
Harmonising the heart of Pocky
One of Ari’s defining milestones was developing the new Pocky Redbox formula for both Thai and Indonesian factories. Producing the same product in two different environments required navigating variations in raw materials, processing methods, and regulatory standards.
Through close collaboration, multiple trials, and a unified mindset, the team successfully aligned these variables. When the formula was approved and accepted by all marketing countries, it marked a true regional achievement. The project reflected how R&D connects markets in ways consumers may not see, yet always experience through consistent taste and quality.
Building trust across borders
Beyond technical problem-solving, Ari sees empathy and transparency as the foundations of strong cross-border collaboration. Working with colleagues across the region has taught him that teamwork depends on listening, understanding local realities, and respecting diverse perspectives.
These experiences shape his day-to-day approach, from proactive communication to patient problem-solving and knowledge sharing. By fostering openness and a shared way of working, he contributes to a more cohesive and collaborative Glico community, one where innovation is strengthened by connection and collective purpose.
