Turning data into decisions

As Glico expanded, so did the volume and complexity of its data. For Kum Weng, that challenge became an opportunity. Frequent requests for analysis across multiple platforms revealed a gap, too much time was spent preparing data and too little interpreting it.

With prior experience in Power BI, he saw a more efficient path forward. By integrating disparate data sources into a unified platform, he began transforming reporting from a manual task into a strategic tool.

Building a digital backbone for the region

Introducing Power BI to the commercial teams marked a turning point. The process required more than technical skill. Data structures had to be understood, cleaned, and rebuilt before visualisation could begin. Through self-learning, experimentation, and iteration, Kum Weng developed dashboards aligned with real business needs.

Today, his colleagues across the region actively use the dashboards. Data processing time has been reduced by more than half, enabling teams to move from static reporting to interactive analysis. Instead of waiting for answers, teams can now explore insights independently.

Making digital transformation practical

For Kum Weng, the hardest part of digital transformation is not building the system, but earning trust in it. Adoption happens when tools are intuitive, practical, and visibly better than existing methods. Once colleagues experienced quicker access to insights, engagement followed naturally.

Looking ahead, he sees technology not as an end goal, but as a way to free people to think more strategically. By reducing manual work and improving clarity, digital tools allow teams to focus on interpretation, action, and growth. For Kum Weng, true innovation lies in helping people move from data collection to confident decision-making.
