    Continual Commercialization of New Materials Created by Nutritional Research Laboratory

    In 2001, Glico established a new business division around the pillars of the health food business and new materials business. The developments of each laboratory are utilized throughout the group to commercialize products mainly in the health field, while promoting sales to overseas and other external users as raw materials for foods, cosmetics, reagents, and other products.

    Due to the fact that oral health is the basis of overall health, we developed Phosphoryl Oligosaccharides of Calcium (POs-Ca) to enhance the remineralization of the early stages of cavities. Based on this, the dental gum “POsCAM” was commercialized and was first launched through dental channels in 2002, and a year later in 2003 was approved for labeling as a Food for Specified Health Uses and released for general sale.

    This is a tablet-type candy that removes tongue grime, which is one of the causes of bad breath. The development of this product began with an inquiry about whether there was a way to remove grime from the tongue to prevent aspiration pneumonia in the elderly. This led to the prevention of bad breath through the removal of tongue grime, and the use of pineapple-derived proteolytic enzymes led to the collection and improvement of in-house test data, which led to the launch of the product.
